The Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) has stepped into clear hurdles faced by Karan's forthcoming film 'Thambi Vettothi Sundaram', as a Kanyakumari-based association has been protesting against the movie, alleging that it had portrayed the region and its people in bad light.
"We have watched the film. It has in fact glorified a personality called Thambi Vettothi Sundaram. His life and that of the people in Kanyakumari district has been portrayed in a beautiful way. So we request the people concerned not to interfere in the film's release," said TFPC treasurer Kalaipuli S Thanu.
"This is the maiden venture for both the director and the producer. So it is the duty of the Tamil Film Producers Council to solve the problems faced by them. Hence, we place a request before those protesting against the movie to withdraw their decision," Thanu further said.
Saying that the Council would make arrangements to screen the film for the office-bearers of the association, Thanu however added that it could set a bad precedence. "Similar troubles may erupt for other movies too. So we believe that they (those opposing 'Thambi Vettothi Sundaram') would understand this."
