Remakes are considered tricky, especially when you are casting superstars like Pawan Kalyan and Chiranjeevi. Chiranjeevi's upcoming movie 'Godfather' is a remake of a Malayalam movie. However, most movies remade from Malayalam into Telugu feature non-superstars. 'ABCD' starred Allu Sirish, while the original had a bigger name (Dulquer Salmaan).

When 'Bheemla Nayak' was announced, everyone knew the burden of saving the film rested on the shoulders of only one man: Trivikram Srinivas. Director Saagar K Chandra was not trusted by Power Star's fans to do the job.

Now that the film is out, it would be an informed assessment to study Trivikram's writing. The 'Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo' director understood where he must stick to the original and where he should do the job of an original writer. That's why we see that crucial segments have been heavily dramatized in the remake. In the Malayalam original, 'Ayyappanum Koshiyum', the suspension of Ayyappan (played by Biju Menon) is played out in a plain manner. In the Telugu remake, it is shown as a tectonic event followed by Nayak going full bonkers. A song follows. Such moments are what the Telugu audience enjoy.

One can think of several other examples. Trivikram re-wrote almost two-thirds of the original to give the adaptation. He has set an example for the writers of remakes. Of course, any amount of smart writing can work only if you have an actor with great swag and a strong technical team.
