Mani Ratnam’s upcoming film Ponniyin Selvan 1 has been made on a large scale and fans have been waiting for its release since the release of the trailer. Leaving no stone unturned, the makers are planning promotional activities to bring a large crowd to the big screens.

As a small step towards promotion, the lead cast has now followed a unique publicity campaign for the film on Twitter and the fans are loving it. Chiyaan Vikram and Trishna Krishnan, who play the Chola prince Aditha Karakalan and Chola princess Kundavai respectively, have changed the name of their Twitter handles to that of their on-screen characters.

As part of the promotions, the cast and crew will travel to the other districts in Tamil Nadu followed by grand promotional events in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kochi, Mumbai and Delhi. The movie team also has promotion plans abroad in countries like Dubai, Singapore and Malaysia.

Apart from Vikram and Trisha, the film has an impressive cast featuring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Rahman and R. Parthiban. Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1 is slated for a September 30 release.
