Before the launch of Kamal Haasan`s upcoming project Thoongavanam` there were many news reports suggesting that Kamal will be playing a cop in the film. However the actor in his trademark style brushed aside those rumors in an introductory audio-visual speech about the film and said he is definitely not donning a cop in the film. Once the film`s first look of the film was released, people started speculating that the multi talented star plays a psychopath killer in the film on the lines of Sigappu Rojakkal`.

Now if sources are to be believed the film has a cop`s role and that will be played by none other than Trisha. If this is true, it will be a new experience for fans as it will be a first tough role for the charming actress who has been mostly seen in romantic and soft characters so far.

It is said that the actress will also be taking part in an action sequence with Kamal in the film.

Thoonagavanam` is being directed by Kamal`s erstwhile assistant M.Rajesh is progressing at a rapid pace as a Tamil-Telugu bilingual. Reportedly, the first schedule has been completed in Hyederabad and the second will soon begin in Chennai.

The film that has been written by Kamal and produced under his Rajkamal Films banner stars Prakash Raj, Sampath, Kishore, Yugi Sethu, Madhu Shalini and Uma Riyaz in prominent roles.
