Trisha Krishnan has been coming in for unfair slandering on social media. She has been abused, trolled mercilessly and attributed motives for allegedly endorsing PETA's stance on the Tamil bull-hugging sport Jallikattu.

“I`m a Tamilian and I support @peta @petaindia cruelty to animals no matter how old the traditions are is no justification. #BanJallikattu,” is the Trisha tweet which triggered the noisy debate. Minutes after this, the actress said on the same account that her account had just got hacked and she had never spoken against Jallikattu.

Predictably, not many were convinced with this explanation of hers and saw it as a volte-face and worse. As a critic of Trisha put it, it's the first time in the history of social media that somebody's social media accounts were hacked at the same time by a mysterious individual and regained by the account-holder all in a span of just 10 minutes. Trisha excusing herself from being on social media is being seen by her critics as an attempt at playing safe till the Jallikattu controversy is forgotten.

'How can Trisha, a non-vegetarian, be against a bull-hugging sport in the name of opposing cruelty to animals?' yet another critic has voiced his opinion, suggesting that meat-eating animal lovers are hypocrites. Earlier, many celebs faced similar criticism when they opposed bursting crackers during Diwali on the grounds that crackers scare away dogs, but they themselves relish everything from chicken to beef!
