30-plus Trisha is making her debut in Kannada films. The actress, who recently completed a decade in films without any major awards for her acting prowess, is to play the heroine in the Kannada remake of the Telugu super-hit film Dookudu which would have top Kannada star Puneet Rajkumar in the lead.

Released in 2011, the action-packed comic venture Dookudu was a super-duper hit and starred Mahesh Babu and Samantha in lead roles. The producers of the Telugu version are now planning to make the film in Kannada as well. Though Kannada films are not known to be big-budget ventures like Tamil and Telugu films, Trisha is said to be assured of Re.1 crore to star in the film.

Kannada films have been doing well in theatres in recent times and this should have given the producers the requisite confidence to make a big-budget film. Though Trisha hasn’t gone public about her huge pay-packet for the film, it is said that the producers would soon make an official announcement about film.

The Trisha-Punith film, which is as yet untitled, might go to the floors in a couple of weeks.
