Treading a different path is my style: Parthiban

Novelty is what he strives to achieve every time. The trailer of his new film Kudaikul Mazhai reflected his mind game, a past master at that. His promos - more of the showcase stuff, were good enough to arouse the viewers expectations as to what could be in the storehouse.
ÂYou only get to see the best things in the promos. When everything looked good for the two-hours package, I was hard hit as to which one to pickÂ. That explains his novel idea, already on in all satellite channels. The urge to try different things not compromising on his style, is a trait which had stood Parthiban in good stead. Love is the base from where the build-up has been made catering to the taste of every individual, said the actor-cum-producer-cum-director of his latest venture.
ÂThe unabated joy experienced by the lovers, like a whiff of fresh air, is what the title means. Once the story was conceived, it boiled down to giving shape. Spotting the leading lady took some time. Being a full-fledged glamour role, I plumped for a fresh face from Hyderabad. Comedy without a comedy track is the directorÂs idea of not deviating from the main track. ÂI am not comfortable in forced comedy, with a separate track. It is like having curd rice and pickles separately. The fun element is lost out thereÂ. Parthiban said he always tried different things. Films like Sugamana Sumaigal and Housefull showcased my potential but fell short by miles in the all important commercial angle. Ulle Veliye lifted my sagging spirits. I could have made a pile when the going was good. But then, variety has been my cup of tea.Â
How come he could not quite keep up his reputation intact after that perfect start of Pudhiya Padhai.Â
ÂI strived very hard to give something out of the ordinary. The rugged role went down well with the common man, who could identify with the character. Being my debut film, I could afford to experiment throwing in my weight.Â
