The makers explored 22 buildings before finding the perfect location for 'Trapped.'
As the film proves to be India's first survival drama, the location of the building where lead protagonist Rajkummar Rao is 'Trapped' is of utmost significance to the script and storyline of the film. The location plays a pivotal role in the sequence of events unfolding in the film.
Director Vikramaditya Motwane wanted to leave no stone unturned in finding the perfect location as he had specific requirements from the building. This included a precise geography of the neighborhood in addition to the layout of the building and the flat. The makers did a recce of twenty two buildings before choosing a non-occupied building in the business district of Parel, Mumbai. The hunt for a perfect location lasted nearly for 2 months, before zeroing on the final shoot locale.
It was these intricate but significant details that were minutely looked into the makers, to bring to trapped the added impact backing the script. To give the film a realistic approach and treatment, the film was shot in a flat on the 30th floor of the building.
The location came with its set of obstacles for the team as the elevator was operational only till the sample flat which was on the 25th floor. The crew of 'Trapped' would climb the remaining five floors everyday, along with their heavy equipment. There would also be days when the elevator would not work at all, leaving the crew to climb thirty floors with all the heavy equipment and other essential items needed for the shoot.
Overcoming these set backs, the cast and crew of 'Trapped' have recently presented to the audience a thrilling and gripping experience, leave high anticipation for the films release.
'Trapped' is slated to release on 17th March, 2017.
