Trailer Review: 'Shailaja Reddy Alludu'

The hero is squeezed between a tantrums-throwing girl and her domineering, heady mother. Throw in a bunch of funnily troubled characters (played by the likes of Prudhvi, Vennela Kishore, Naresh and perhaps even Murali Sharma), the formula is there, ready to be served to the mass as well as class audiences.
'Shailaja Reddy Alludu', directed by Maruthi, could also be a dig at the Pravachanams-crazy Tollywood (courtesy Prudhvi's line regarding the irrelevance of WhatsApp 'gyan' to real life).
And Naga Chaitanya is out to do some action, thanks to the part-rural set-up of the family-comedy entertainer. Anu Emmanuel has a strong role for sure.
But the strongest one has to be Ramya Krishna's, who plays the titular role. There was a time when Kota Srinivasa Raos and Kaikala Satyanarayanas were buffeted by Shailaja Redds. In the new age, Maruthi comes with his own characters.
Comedian Venu has a role. Wish Vennela Kishore's bespectacled avatar didn't have a similarity with his dumb 'Duvvada Jagannadham' act.
Music is by Gopi Sunder, cinematography is by Nizar Shafi (the cameraman of 'Bhale Bhale Mogidivoy' and 'Mahanubhavudu'), editing is by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao, and production design is by Raveendar.
The film hits the screens on September 13.
