OK. We were told 'Paisaa Vasool' is a gangster flick. So, the gangster is on a rampage and into committing intellectual deconstruction, describing himself as a freedom fighter, that too in the presence of his heroine (Shriya Saran). It takes a lot of Puri-ism to speak such language. And here, the same has been wedded to Balayya-ism.
The man is Theda Singh. 'Dimaag thoda, chala theda'. The line is an improvisation over Gabbar Singh's 'Nakkonchem tikkundi.. Kani daniko lekkundi'. Celebrating 'screw loose'. That's the soul and purpose of the film.
The director seems to be making a too serious attempt at re-imagining Balakrishna as someone who is younger by 30 years, if not more. In 'Legend' and 'Gautamiputra Satakarni', we hardly saw him overplaying a youngness he doesn't have. Will the 'Paisaa Vasool' gamble pay off?
The action sequences got to be nothing less than mind-blowing, as there is only so much that you can manage with Balayya's heroism alone.
The question is: Has Puri updated himself with stunts? Find out the answer on Sept 1st.
