The trailer for Shahid Kapoor's upcoming sports drama 'Jersey' was released on Tuesday and fans are quite happy to finally get a glimpse of this long awaited movie. The trailer successfully sets up the theme of the film. Shahid Kapoor plays a washed up cricketer in it who is unemployed for a long time. In his late thirties, he starts his journey of getting back into the game in order to be able to get a cricket jersey for his son and to prove his self worth.

The trailer features Shahid's character as a rugged and unkept person sporting full beard and messy hair. This looks reminds people of his character from 'Kabir Singh'. Other similarities to his previous film can be the emotional fragility and overall vulnerability that was shown in the trailer and this is why some fans are calling it 'Kabir Singh 2.0'.

However, the trailer also shows Shahid's character in his heyday when he used to be a promising young cricketer. Mrunal Thakur can be seen as his wife who is also the breadwinner of the family and is reluctant to his idea of getting back to the game.

The film is set to hit the theatres on 31st of December.
