Actor Tovino Thomas and director Basil Joseph are teaming up again for a movie titled 'Minnal Murali'. In the movie, Tovino Thomas will be seen playing the role of a desi Superhero. The movie's shoot was progressing at a brisk pace until the lockdown was announced. The team had set up a church on the free ground near Aluva Shiva temple. In a shocking incident, a group of Bajrang Dal workers has allegedly destroyed the set saying that a church shouldn't be built in front of the temple.
Akhil Hindu Parishad (AHP) State General Secretary Hari Palode confirmed the demolition but putting up a post on Facebook, claiming that the film set of a church in front of a temple had hurt religious sentiments. Along with the post, Hari had also shared the pictures of the demolished sets. "When this was built, we told them not to do so. Complaints were given. We do not plead. We decided to remove it. Accolades for all those who participated in this and for the Ernakulam unit president Malayattoor Ratheesh,” he said.
Taking to Facebook Basil Joseph, director of Minnal Murali penned an emotional note, "I don't know what to tell at this moment. For some people, this could be a comedy or troll. For some others, it could be politics. But for us, it was a dream. The producer has spent a huge amount of money to make such a set, and we had all the permissions to make it."
The movie's producer Sophia Paul too took to Facebook and shared her disappointment over the incident. “Unfortunately due to the pandemic we couldn’t resume the shoot and was waiting for government guidance regarding the permissions to resume shoot. The set at Kaladi was planned and built for one of our most important scene. All required permissions to build the set at the location was taken. Today’s incident is so unfortunate and a colossal loss,” she wrote.
Meanwhile, several directors of Mollywood came in support of the 'Minnal Murali' team
