After Mammootty's ‘One’, Kunchacko Boban's ‘Nizhal’ and ‘Nayattu’, now the latest movie that got released on OTT platform is Tovino Thomas starrer ‘Kala’. The movie which had a theatrical release on March 25 was released on two OTT platforms - Amazon Prime and Saina Play - on May 20. The movie which is also available in Tamil has opened to positive responses from all corners for its very unapologetic portrayal of violence on screen. 

Kala is an 'A' certified movie that released only in Kerala during the last week of March this year. Directed by Rohith VS, the movie is a thriller set in the background of 1997 and is said to revolve around a special relationship between a man and his pet dog. Apart from Tovino, Kala also stars Lal, Divya Pillai, Aarish, and ‘Pathinettam Padi’ fame Moor in pivotal roles in the movie. A dog named Bazigar is said to be playing a key role in the movie that marks Tovino’s first release in 2021.

While filming for Kala, Tovino had suffered an internal injury while shooting an action sequence for the movie. The actor had to halt the shooting and undergo hospitalization for a week. He recovered soon and went back to shooting the film within a couple of weeks and completed his portions. Produced by Siju Mathews and Navis Xaviour, the movie's cinematography is by Akhil George and music by Dawn Vincent.
