For the first in the last five years Smt Nagamma sister of Dr Rajakumar and Varadaraju graced the award given in the name of SP Varadaraju by Atmiyara Balaga of the pillar of Dr Rajkumar family.

Smt Nagamma turned emotional in her speech after presenting the 5th annual award to Ranganayakamma of theatre and Ashwathnarayana of cinema. I am not able to speak on this occasion. Remembering my brother such an award is instituted I am grateful to it said the aged Nagamma. Later rebel star Ambarish, head of Kannada cinema artists association honored Smt Nagamma.

From this year SP VAradaraju Atmiyara Balaga has increased cash prize from Rs.5000 to Rs.10000. Prof Baraguru Ramachandrappa in his speech beautifully explained the ‘Beauty and mind’ in siblings Dr Rajakumar and SP Varadaraju. The beauty of cinema was from Dr Rajakumar and mind occupying thoughts were flowing from Varadaraju for films were highlighted by Prof Baraguru.

The awardees Ranganayakamma and Ashwathnarayana had the common complaint no support at this age. Ashwathnarayan in his dejected voice requested Ambarish to recommend for at least small roles. There is no need to help after death. Helping before death is important said the veteran.

Smt Ranganayakamma threw her arrows at the government for not responding to her 55 years of service in the theatre. After my demise they would open their eyes I believe stated the veteran actor on stage.

Ambarish recalled his association with Dr Rajakumar and admitted that he knows very little about Varadaraju. I am surprised and at the same time happy for this kind of award instituted said Ambarish.
