Top Five Films
- IndiaGlitz, [Wednesday,June 30 2004]
1.Gilli: With no new releases in the last couple of weeks, Gilli starring Vijay and Trisha Krishnan and directed by Dharani continues to remain at the top. It is DharaniÂs third consecutive hit at the box office.
2 Perazhagan: Peralazhan, a remake of the Malayalam hit, Kunjikoonan, still is at number two. Perazhagan, directed by Sasi Shankar starring both Surya and Jyothika in double roles, has done a lot of good for the AVM banner after its last few flops.
3.Autograph: At number four a couple of weeks ago, the film has climbed the ladder. It is amazing as the film has completed more than 100 days! Even in Chennai, most of the night shows are full. Full credit to Cheran for his courage in making a different film. As was reported earlier, filmmakers from other languages are eager to remake Autograph into their languages.
4.Aayutha Ezhuthu: As weeks pass by, this film by Mani Ratnam is slipping at the box office. The success of Autogrpah and the failure of Aayutha Ezhuthu have shown that hype never helps a film at the box office. Ultimately, it is the people who decide whether a film is worth watching or not.
5.Arul: Arul has been taken off from many theaters in the state, and if at all it is there at some theaters, it is only because there were no new releases in the last one month. Arul can be labeled as a failure from the hit director-actor pair, Hari and Vikram. This is what happens when you try to Âremake your own successful film, frame by frame.
