From Hollywood to Bollywood, top directors are rooting for legendary director/producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra's next 'Broken Horses', his maiden Hollywood film.
Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Broken Horses, that holds the feat of being the first Hollywood film that has been written, directed and produced by an Indian, is making all the right noise before its release on April 10. First the film wowed the likes of legendary Hollywood directors James Cameron and Alfonso Cuaron, then Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan came forward to support the film and release the trailer and now it has overwhelmed some of the best directors of our country. Here is what they had to say about Broken Horses that releases on April 10.
"Broken Horses is an artistic triumph. Beautifully written, acted and imaged, this film wraps slowly around you like a king snake and squeezes," says James Cameron. "Broken Horses overwhelmed me. The greatness of Vidhu Vinod Chopra's films comes from the act that all his characters are driven by love," says Alfonso Cuaron.
Vikramaditya Motwane says, "Vidhu Vinod Chopra has been a landmark director, he is some whose films we have watched growing up with Parinda and Khamosh and lot of amazing films he has made. As a Bollywood person I am very excited."
Sudhir Misra says, "It's a gem of a film brilliantly shot. It is loosely connected with Vinod's Parinda but it's a new film altogether and it's much better film than Parinda. All the best to Vinod and I hope its succeeds a lot all over the world."
Sriram Raghavan says, "He is a senior from my institute and I am big fan of Vinod's work. He is back to action after a while, action and drama. I have always loved his work and seen his classic film Parinda and Khamosh so many times."
Set in the shadows of the US-Mexico border gang wars, Broken Horses is an epic thriller about the bonds of brotherhood, the laws of loyalty, and the futility of violence. The film has been written by Chopra and Abhijat Joshi (PK, 3 IDIOTS, LAGE RAHO MUNNA BHAI) and is based on an original story by Chopra. Broken Horses' principal cast features Vincent D'Onofrio (THE JUDGE, FULL METAL JACKET), Anton Yelchin (LIKE CRAZY, STAR TREK), Chris Marquette (ALPHA DOG, THE GIRL NEXT DOOR) and Maria Valverde (EXODUS). Chopra's technical crew on the film included Director of Photography Tom Stern (HUNGER GAMES, THE CHANGELING), Production Designer Toby Corbett (BAD LIEUTENANT) and Composer John Debney (IRON MAN 2).
'Broken Horses' has been marketed and distributed by Fox Star Studios in India and it releases on April 10.
