Simbu's recent release, 'Pathu Thala', emerged as one of the high-grossing Tamil films of the year. Up next, the actor is all set to start his 48th film to be directed by Desingh Periasamy of 'Kannum Kannum Kollai Adithal' fame. Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan will be producing this movie.

Produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, STR48 is said to be the biggest film in Simbu's career. The film is touted to have some historical period portions. Now, sources say that top Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is in talks for the female lead role. Notably, Deepika charges a whopping remuneration than Silambarasan's salary.

If the talks end well, we can expect an official announcement from the team soon. Producer Kamal Haasan is also expected to play a small cameo in STR48 and it has doubled the movie's expectations. Reportedly, Anirudh Ravichander will be scoring music for this upcoming film. On the work front, Simbu is likely to revive the long-pending project, 'Corona Kumar'.
