  • IndiaGlitz, [Saturday,March 15 2008]

As neither of the new releases fared better at the Box Office, the songs from the new movies also remained alien to the audience.’Cycle’ still holds its way among listeners as fresh songs from the film enter the chart tops.

The top five Malayalam songs are:

1. 'Paattunarnnuvo' - Film: ‘Cycle’; Music: Mejo Joseph; Lyrics: Anil Panachooran; Singers: Chitra, Sreenivas. This song which reaches the top after a while once again proves that Malayalees always prefers melodious numbers than those with heavy beats. As the popularity of this film still remains undiminished with no big competitions, its music also stay on the chart tops.

2. ‘Thazhika Kudame’ - Film: ‘College Kumaran’; Music: Ousepachan; Lyrics: Shibu Chakravarthi; Singers: Jyotsna, M G Sreekumar. Another regular Mohanlal dance number, the song is a pleasing one. The music track of the movie is already a good hit, though the film didn't manage to hit big time.

3. ‘Varnapainkili’ - Film: ‘Cycle’; Music: Mejo Joseph; Lyrics: Anil Panachooran; Singer: Vineeth Sreenivasan. Other songs sung and performed on screen by the talented Vineeth Sreenivasan. The visuals are shot brilliantly at Singapore.

4. ‘Akale Oru’ - Film: ‘Calcutta News’; Music: Deb Jyothi Misra; Lyrics: Sarath Varma; Singers: Chitra and Asmintha Sengupta. Even this film too didn't do well as expected, the music was a surprise hit. Deb Jyoth Misra once again proved that Bengali music directors and their music always do well with Keralites.

5. ‘Aaranu Nee'- film: 'Jubilee' ; Music: Shyam Dharman; Lyrics : Kaithrapram, Singer: Vineeth Sreenivasan. The debutant music director managed to create a few good songs for the film, which was a washout in a week. The film also features another couple of good songs, but the chart entry is as usual one sung by the luckiest singer of our times, Vineeth Sreenivasan.
