Ileana D'Cruz [Barfi!]
Ileana D'Cruz, an accomplished actress from down South, made a very worthy start in Bollywood with 'Barfi!' and lighted up the screen every time she appeared, especially in her younger portions as an unmarried girl. Moreover she also gave a good range of her acting skills when she enacted the part of a married woman and later in her 60s. For someone who is known for her glam image, Ileana was a revelation in the film. She is going a little slow but steady. Her next film is 'Phata Poster Nikla Hero' with Shahid Kapoor.
Diana Penty [Cocktail]
With 'Cocktail', Diana Penty made a very good debut in a complex role where she had as much screen time as Deepika Padukone. She got a chance to sink her teeth into numerous scenes that were written just for her character. She mouthed her dialogues well, looked pretty and emoted well. Rest assured, she is here to say, something which is quite apparent with the fact that she has managed to catch even Salman Khan's fancy. There is a very strong word in town that she is his leading lady in the film that would be directed by Sohail Khan.
Esha Gupta [Jannat 2, Raaz 3, Chakravyuh]
Esha Gupta, who comes across as a mix of Lara Dutta and Neha Dhupia, is a decent actress with an effervescent screen presence that should ensure a longer run for her. Though she wasn't there much in 'Jannat 2', there was a much lengthier part in 'Raaz 3'. Never mind a few rough patches at an instance or two, she scraped though the tough role of a tormented girl in her very second film. Also, she made up for that in quite a few emotional scenes where she did well. Her good looks and girl-in-damsel act further make one feel protective towards her.
Huma Qureshi [Gangs of Wasseypur I and II, Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana]
Her couple of scenes where she first reprimands Nawazzuddin Siddiqui for coming too close (in 'Gangs of Wasseypur - Part I') and then being too aloof (in 'Gangs of Wasseypur - Part II') would go down as ever-so-memorable moments in the history of Bollywood. This pretty much says a lot about this young woman who only had few scenes to her credit in the Anurag Kashyap directed affair but made her presence felt in a big way. She had a larger part in 'Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana' but the film failed to make any mark. It is now expected that her next release 'D-Day' has more of the talented actress.
Alia Bhatt [Student of the Year]
A picture perfect debut - This is what worked for newcomer Alia Bhatt who was groomed to perfection by Karan Johar. Her facial expressions were never out of place, she looked extremely pretty, was as cute as a girl of her age can be, thankfully didn't quite get into an arrogant zone (which would have been very easy actually, given her characterisation) and registered a strong presence. She started off with a relatively shorter part in a bromance called 'Student of the Year' but with '2 States' already on the anvil, she is already looking at some exciting times ahead.
