The most celebrated actress in Hollywood, Meryl Streep and the similarly decorated, leading man Tom Hanks are coming together onscreen for the first time in 'The Post' directed by Steven Speilberg. Now doesn't that spell Oscar already?
'The Post' tells the real life story of The Washington Post's publication of the Pentagon papers in 1971. Hanks will play the Post's editor Ben Bradlee while Streep the publisher Kay Graham, who challenged the federal government regarding their rights to publish the papers. Shooting will begin once Speilberg completes his "The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara," which will star Mark Rylance and Oscar Isaac.
