On August 11, Tom Cruise is scheduled to take the stage in the Paris 2024 Olympic closing ceremony. As part of the ceremonial handoff to Los Angeles for the 2028 Olympics, reports indicate he will skydive to the Hollywood Sign. TMZ claims that this action was subtly recorded in March.

Attending the Paris games, Cruise has been supporting activities including swimming contests and women's gymnastics qualifications. He told Reuters he loved it: It's fantastic. Excellent athletes and wonderful stories. Their dedication and sense of accomplishment are amazing.

Behind the Los Angeles section is Fulwell 73, a production company co-owned by James Corden known for projects including Hulu's ‘The Kardashians’ and Adele's CBS special ‘One Night Only’. Prerecorded and live components will be mixed in this part.

Originally, there were preparations for a big celebration at Will Rogers State Beach where the Olympic flag handoff was scheduled. But LAPD worries about a protracted Pacific Coast Highway closure and trouble getting California Coastal Commission permits, so this concept was shelved. Fulwell 73 left no comments on the situation.

Mixed responses greeted the opening ceremony of the Paris Games on July 26, which included Lady Gaga, drag queens, and participants sailing down the River Seine.

Celebrity acts abound in closing ceremonies. For Beijing 2008, for example, Jimmy Page and Leona Lewis sang Led Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love on a fake bus bound for London.

Produced by David L. Wolper and Disney executive Robert Jani, the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympic Games were well-known for its Hollywood-style opening and closing ceremonies featuring performances by Lionel Richie, The Beach Boys, and composer John Williams.
