In June 2018, a Chicago-based Tollywood film producer named Modugumudi Kishan and his wife Chandrakala were caught running a sex racket with Tollywood actresses and Telugu TV anchors in the US. The husband-wife duo was taken into custody.

As per the latest reports, their trial is going to come to an end. A Telugu TV channel has speculated that the couple might be sentenced to a jail term of up to 27-34 years as per relevant American laws. If this happens, their careers would have ended once and for all.

It has been alleged by Federal police that some small-time actresses, who were introduced to rich men by Kishan, made upwards of $3,000 per night under the couple's aegis. Their modus operandi was busted by the Chicago police first. Starlets would visit the US on a visiting visa on the pretext of attending some cultural event organized by the Kishan couple. Prostitution would be run with willing starlets secretly once they reach the US.
