A surge of solidarity has swept through Tollywood, as prominent actors and industry leaders rallied in support of Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya following Telangana Minister Konda Surekha's distasteful remarks about their divorce. Surekha's controversial claim, linking the couple's separation to alleged phone tapping and blackmail by Bharat Rashtra Samiti Chief KT Rama Rao, has sparked widespread outrage.
Mahesh Babu vented his anger posting "Extremely pained by the comments made by Minister Konda Surekha garu on fellow members of our film fraternity. As a father of a daughter, as a husband to a wife and as son to a mother... I am deeply anguished by the unacceptable remarks and language used by a woman minister on another woman. Freedom of speech can be exercised as long as it does not hurt other’s sentiments. I strongly condemn the cheap and baseless comments made and request people in public domain to refrain from making the film fraternity a soft target. The women of our country and our film fraternity should be treated with utmost respect and dignity."
Vishnu Manchu, actor and president of the Movie Artists Association, emphasized the need for mutual respect: "The film industry is built on trust, and it’s disheartening to see how false narratives are used for political gain. Our families deserve the same respect and privacy as any other. No one appreciates their loved ones being targeted by baseless accusations."
Varun Tej condemned the remarks, particularly the targeting of a woman: "I strongly condemn the harsh and unnecessary words spoken by Minister Konda Surekha garu. Targeting a family, especially speaking ill of a woman, is unacceptable. We will not tolerate such behavior. Using film personalities and their families for political vendettas must stop."
Venkatesh expressed his disappointment: "It saddens me to see a personal situation used as political ammunition. Public figures have a responsibility to maintain dignity in discourse. Dragging private lives into the political arena only adds to the pain of those involved."
Vishwak Sen highlighted the unfair scrutiny actors often face: "Actors are often unfairly criticized based on rumors. We need to remember that actors are human too—they feel pain, sadness, and joy like everyone else. Before commenting, think about the impact your words might have."
Sree Vishnu joined the chorus, stating: "I strongly condemn the allegations and derogatory comments made by Minister Konda Surekha garu. We need to respect personal privacy and uphold the dignity of women."
Sr Naresh echoed similar sentiments, calling out the appalling nature of the minister's remarks: "These comments target not just the Akkineni family but also attack the women of TFI with false accusations. The Telugu film industry has always supported governments and people in times of need, but this kind of political trash talk must stop."
Teja Sajja criticized the shallow opinions expressed about actors: "It’s unacceptable to demean anyone, especially women, in such a manner. Actors contribute to society through donations, social services, and taxes, yet we are unfairly targeted for attention. I condemn the exploitation of personal lives for political gain."
Manchu Manoj voiced his disappointment, urging the minister to apologize: "It’s deeply disheartening to hear such baseless remarks from Minister Konda Surekha garu. Misogynistic and false allegations about film stars’ private lives for political gain are unacceptable. I urge her to retract her statements and apologize."
Ravi Teja summed up the collective outrage: "I'm appalled that a woman minister would resort to such demonic tactics, fabricating vile allegations in the name of political warfare. This is beyond shameful. No one should drag innocent individuals, especially women, into political rivalries."
Tollywood’s united front against the minister’s remarks underscores the industry’s commitment to upholding dignity, protecting privacy, and rejecting irresponsible public discourse. This powerful outpouring of support for Samantha and Naga Chaitanya reflects the industry's stance against such harmful behavior.
