The Telugu film industry is going to witness a massive strike by cine workers. On Tuesday, cine workers unions related to the 24 crafts of the industry declared that they will not be attending work from Wednesday.
Their key demand is that wages have to be revised immediately. Usually, wages are supposed to be revised every three years.
It has been four years since the wages for cine workers haven't been revised. Therefore, as many as 40K to 50K workers have decided not to attend work from tomorrow.
If the strike goes through and there is a stalemate, the shooting of movies in the Telugu States will come to a screeching halt, impacting production costs of big movies, medium movies and small movies.
It has also been decided that workers will rush to the Film Chamber building to raise slogans of unity and solidarity.
It has to be seen how the impending crisis will be resolved by the elders of the film industry. For about a year since the onset of the pandemic, film shoots were either not happening or were not taking place in a full-fledged manner.
