Chief Minister KCR has on Monday evening said that lockdown has saved many lives in India and Telangana. He suggested that the ongoing lockdown will ideally have to be extended.
At his presser, the CM mentioned a study by Boston Consulting Group, which recommends lockdown until June 3.
"If lockdown isn't extended, there is a high chance that infections will go up in Telangana. This is what I have communicated to the Prime Minister," he added.
KCR announced a special gift to healthcare personnel, including doctors. "They will receive 10 percent of gross salary as gift. Safai Karamcharis, GHMC staff and others will receive gift in the form of bonus, to be calculated as a percentage of gross salary," the CM said.
Like other States, Telangana is suffering heavy economic losses due to the lockdown. "Rs 2,400 Cr was to be generated in the first week of April. However, just Rs 6 Cr has come about," he added.
