Today is the last day of the Tokyo Olympics and a day with more chances for India to win medals at the Tokyo Olympics 2021. Our nation had the chance to bag medals in Women's Golf, Men's Freestyle Wrestling, and Men's Javelin Throw.
Indian golfer Aditi Ashok, who had high chances of winning a historic golf medal, lost out on bronze by one shot to Lydia Ko. Aditi said that she gave her 100% and put in the best effort, but she finished 4th in the game of 3 medals by a single point. The young player is surely having a great chance of winning a medal at the Paris Olympics 2024.
Meanwhile, Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia beat Daulet Niyazbekov of Kazakhstan 8:0 in his Bronze medal match to win the sixth medal for India in the Tokyo Games. Due to a knee injury, Bajrang was not able to wrestle properly and lost the semifinals yesterday. Despite suffering a knee injury during the semifinals, Bajrang Punia decided to play the match today and won the prestigious bronze medal in Men's freestyle Wrestling 65kg.
Today (Saturday) is the last event with Indian participation. The closing ceremony will be held on Sunday, where Bajrang is set to be India’s flag-bearer. On the other hand, athlete Neeraj Chopra has assured the nation of an elusive Olympic medal by competing in the Men's Javelin Throw Final. The 23-year-old Chopra fuelled the country’s expectations by topping the qualification round with a stunning first-round throw of 86.65m.
