Indian Athlete Neeraj Chopra has made us all proud by winning gold in track and field in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics 2020. It is a historic win for the country. After 100 years it is a dream come true moment for India and Indian fans.
Neeraj Chopra who was leading the board with an effort of 87.03 on his first attempt, 87.58 on his second, and 76.79 on his third to stun the athletics world and won a historic gold medal for India and made the Nation proud. He became India's second-ever individual Olympic gold medallist after shooter Abhinav Bindra.
Chopra finished on top of the podium with a best throw of 87.58m, ahead of Czech Republic's Jakub Vadlejch (86.67m) and Vesely Vitezslav (85.44m). The Indian got a foul throw on his fourth and fifth attempts. It is also notable that he never threw over 90m while many of his rivals did.
Chopra won the country’s seventh medal and first gold in this Olympics and joined shooter Abhinav Bindra (2008 Beijing Games) as India’s individual gold winners in the showpiece. With this, the country surpassed the previous best haul of six medals achieved in 2012 London Games. Neeraj Chopra will be taking the flag for India at the Tokyo Olympics closing ceremony.
