To share or not to share pics of mutilated soldiers?

The dastardly, savage terrorist attack on CRPF soldiers has left the nation shocked. We are seeing so many pictures of the scene of crime. To say the least, the mutilated bodies of the bravehearts is heart-wrenching. As columnist Sunanda Vashisht puts it, "One lump of flesh had only one finger left, another lump had just a bit of forearm left." The magnitude of the brutality is unspeakable.
In this context, some commentators have appealed to social media users and mainstream media to desist from sharing the gut-wrenching pics of the slained soldiers. The visuals are too mind-numbing.
There is a counter-view. Harsh Gupta feels that the visuals can lead to something useful. "Remember the pic of the dead “migrant” baby, apparently Syrian, on a seashore (it was all over social media in 2016). It got people thinking or feeling in a way that a hundred articles could not. If somebody from the family of a soldier asks, yes it should be respected. Else we must feel the anger and loss," he says.
