This Sunday (31st December) might turn out to be a watershed day in the lives of millions of fans of superstar Rajinikanth across the world as their ‘Thalaivar’ has said categorically that he would announce decision (on entering politics or not) on that day.
Rajini’s fans had been urging their matinee idol to take to active politics for the past 22 years; many are still of the view that had Rajini would have become the chief-minister if he had contested the 1996 Assembly polls. Rajini met his fans for a period of five days in May this year. After posing for thousands of photograph with them, Rajini told them to remain ‘battle-ready’ to respond to his last-minute call.
He reeled off his oft-repeated dialogue saying that Almighty wished him to become an actor and if the Almighty wished him to be in politics, he would surely be in politics. After seven months, Rajini has again started meeting his fans and on the first day of the 6-day long meeting, he paid homage to those whose lives were lost in ‘Cyclone Ockhi’ which hit Kanniyakumari coast early this month.
“I’m aware that the media is keen to know whether I’d be in politics or not; it’s a fact that I asked you (fans) to remain battle-ready. However, the battle hasn’t come yet. To succeed in politics, (adopting) strategy is more important than being courageous. On 31st December, I shall reveal my decision on entering politics,” Rajini thundered.
