Ajith Kumar's Thunivu and Thalapathy Vijay's Varisu invaded the silver screens on January 11 as a double treat for the fans on this Pongal. The movies managed to satisfy the fans and general audiences despite the mixed reviews from the critics.

Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu government had earlier restricted the screening of extra shows for Varisu and Thunivu on the dates January 13 to 18. But the theatre owners association continued to demand the Tamil Nadu government for special shows till Jan 18, and they have succeeded with their demand now.

The state government has granted approval to schedule an additional special show till January 18. It is worth mentioning that both films have taken massive openings at the box office. The movies are expected to dominate the worldwide gross in the upcoming days.
