A newly married woman and three other members of her family drowned in a river while six of them were attempting to take a selfie in waist-deep water.

According to a report, the six of them were standing next to each other and holding hands in the riverbed when the newly married woman accidentally stepped into a drop which pulled her in. She pulled three of her family members along with her, while her husband managed to save himself and another woman in the family. The deceased woman also took in with her a 14-year-boy, reportedly.

Deaths caused due to social media obsession have been growing in number in recent times. The video sharing app Tiktok, the selfie feature provided in smartphones, and the online battle royale PUBG have been responsible for several deaths across the country.
