Plans are afoot to restart the Tirumala temple very soon. As per a government directive to the Executive Officer of the Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam, the temple authorities have been instructed to hold a trial run involving the TTD's employees and local residents of the temple town before restarting the temple.
As per the directive, the TTD will conduct the trial run by ensuring social distancing among people during the drill. At least 6ft distance has to be practised during the drill.
It's not clear when exactly the temple will be reopened. But early reports suggest that it might happen in the second week of June, probably after June 9 or so.
The trial run will be conducted before June 8, now that the government has permitted it.
TTD chairman YV Subbareddy recently said that thermal screeners, sanitization of the temple premises after every slot of devotees come and go, etc. will be operationalized once the temple reopens. When sanitization is going on, darshan would be cancelled for a certain amount of time. About 25,000 to 30,000 devotees per day might be allowed.
