Tim Paine, who has been gaining a reputation among the crowd for his wisecracks, is at it once again on the third day of the Melbourne Test against India. His conversation with Indian batsman Rishabh Pant on the field during India’s second innings was recorded on the stump microphone. The fun banter started with Paine offering Pant a place in the Hobart Hurricanes franchise of the Big Bash League as Pant was not part of India’s ODI team.
“Tell you what, big MS is back in the one-day squad too, we might get him down to the Hurricanes this bloke, we need a batter,” Paine was heard saying over the stump microphone. “Do you babysit? I’ll take my wife to the movies one night and you can babysit,” he added. Rishabh Pant did not respond to the Australian skipper’s comments.
At the end of day three, India had declared after scoring 443 for 7 in their first innings to bowl Australia out for 151. Despite losing five wickets in quick time, India holds an upper hand in the game as they possess a lead of 346 runs.
