An 18-year-old girl from Delhi, who was extremely popular on the Chinese video sharing app TikTok, took her own life after having battled depression for a brief period of time.

The girl, identified as Sandhya Chauhan, studied in the Delhi University and had a huge fan following on TikTok. No suicide note was retrieved by the police, but the girl's family has claimed that the girl has been suffering from depression for over two months and the ban on TikTok might have pushed her to take the extreme step. A couple of weeks ago, another teenage TikTok celebrity, Siya Kakkar, took her own life due to depression. The 16-year-old girl was active on almost all social media sites, including YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and SnapChat. She had over 104k followers on Instagram and over 1.1 million followers on TikTok.

Regarding her suicide, Photographer Viral Bhayani wrote in an Instagram post, "Sad news 16-year-old sweet tik-toker @siya_kakkar died by suicide . Before publishing this I spoke to her Talent management agency head Arjun Sarin who just spoke to her last night for a song collaboration and he says she was in a good mood and perfectly alright. Even he has no clue what went wrong that she had to go this way. You go through her videos and you can she was so good in her content, it's really sad that she chose this path. If you are feeling depressed please dont do this."
