The second look poster of director Nivin Pauly's much-anticipated flick Thuramukham has been released online. With a burning beedi in his mouth, Nivin Pauly's menacing intense look promises the movie to be an action entertainer. The second look poster which was released on Sunday has set social media on fire!
The film, which is set against the backdrop of Cochin port, revolves around the uprisings of the labourers against the ‘chappa’ system, where a copper coin was tossed in the air and workers had to fight to grab the coin for work. Set in the ‘40s and ‘50s, Thuramukham also has Indrajith, Nimisha Sajayan, and Joju George.
Touted to be a period thriller set in the 30s and 40s, the movie revolves around the popular protests against the inhuman 'Chappa' system, a work guarantee scheme practiced in the Cochin harbor. According to the system, copper coins were thrown to a large number of workers waiting in the harbour, and whoever manages to grab one will be given work. Interestingly, the first look poster also features how miserable the system was and gives a sneak peek about Nivin's character look. The first look poster which was hand-sketched poster was released earlier this year highly intriguing has also grabbed the attention of the public.
The movie is based on a popular play of the same name written by KM Chidambaram. Scripted by Gopan Chidambaram, of 'Iyobinte Pusthakam', the movie will feature Nivin Pauly in the lead role along with Indrajith, Arjun Ashokan, Poornima Indrajith, Joju George, Manikandan Achari and Biju Menon in pivotal roles. Kerala State Film award winner Nimisha Sajayan is paired opposite Nivin in the movie.
Thuramukham, which was supposed to hit theatres in April, has been pushed back due to the lockdown and consequent post-production hassles. Nivin’s last release was Geetu Mohandas’ Moothon. He was shooting for 'Padavettu, when the lockdown started.
