After a long gap, Ajith and Vijay's movies are clashing at the box office this Pongal which has created a lot of buzz in and around the Kollywood film industry. Fans are eagerly waiting to celebrate the festive season like a carnival with the movies of their idols.

Though the release date was confirmed by the respective movie team, the FDFS show timing for the theaters which has signed both films was not decided. Now the latest update is that the movie Thunivu starring Ajith will have a 1.00 am show and Vijay's Varisu will have a 4.00 am show respectively.

The trailer of these movies was released a few days back and was well received by the audience. The 'Thunivu' trailer that was released on the New Year eve's had clocked 25 million updated views with 1.1 million likes on the video streaming platform in 24 hours. Vijay's 'Varisu' trailer released on Jan 4 evening has clocked 23 million updated views with 1.8 million likes in a day. But it is noteworthy that the trailer of Thunivu has garnered over 50 million views, while Varisu is yet to beat the record.

Varisu is a complete family entertainer whereas Thunivu is an action entertainer, despite the difference in the genres, there is no doubt that the competition will be neck to neck and it will be a treat for the audience for sure.

Thunivu was passed with ‘UA’ certificate by the censor board with 2hr 26 min or 146minutes whereas its competitor, Varisu has a runtime of 2hrs 49mins or 169mins. It was issued a U certificate by the CBFC board recently.
