Thug Life Overseas Box Office Collection: Mani Ratnam’s latest film Thug Life, featuring Kamal Haasan in the lead, had an impressive international debut despite receiving mixed reviews. As per industry tracker AB George, the gangster drama earned $2.8 million (approx. ?24 crore) globally on its opening day, which includes premiere screenings.

The film premiered worldwide on June 5, 2025, with international distribution handled by Home Screen Entertainment. Its ensemble cast includes Silambarasan, Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, Ashok Selvan, and Ali Fazal. The movie garnered attention mainly due to the much-awaited collaboration between Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam, reuniting after nearly four decades since their cult classic Nayakan (1987).

Presented as a gritty gangster saga, Thug Life was filmed in several Indian locations including Chennai, Kanchipuram, Pondicherry, and parts of North India. It also marks Kamal Haasan’s 234th film, making it significant for his fans.
