Thulluvadho Ilamai`, ghost directed by Selvaraghavan enjoyed a huge success on its release in 2002 but critics and audiences dismissed the hero Dhanush and instead gave the thumbs up to the heroine Shirin who did a couple of films after that before disappearing from Kollywood. Selvaraghavan then made his official debut with Kadhal Kondein` which made everyone sit up and notice the spark in the over the top performance of Dhanush.
Producers started making a beeline for Dhanush but he did not get any good projects and suffered one defeat after another for the next few years. He was mocked for his looks and trolled whenever his new posters appeared. One incident that comes to mind is when the poster of Pudhukottaiyilirundhu Saravanan` had the youngster in the famous Bruce Lee look (the truth is there was an unmistakable resemblance). However, it provided fodder for the Dhanush haters and he once again he faced fierce trolls and a weak minded person would have called it quits but then "Pudhupettai` happened and the naysayers were silenced.
The rest as they say is history and today Dhanush towers over his contemporaries as a complete showman and is an example for those who fear the trolls of the monkey minded multitude on the internet. One can say that at the internet revolution age when people get at your throats at will online, Dhanush with his talent and sheer will power is the first to overcome and render them impotent.
