Thala Ajith's birthday a couple of days back became an all India trending event on social media.  It is common knowledge that Ajth is known for philanthropical activities that he seldom publicizes.  On the professional front film roles that Thala rejected or could not do for various reasons were grabbed up by others who went on to achieve stardo.

The first film that comes to mind is the Mani Ratnam produced Vasanth directed 'Nerukku Ner' that caused a sensation when announced in 1996 for it was the coming together of two hot heroes Vijay and Ajith.  However 18 days into production Ajith opted out due to date issues and the director persuaded Suriya the son of legendary actor Sivakumar to make his acting debut and the rest as they say is history.  Other films that Ajith rejected and proved as turning points in Suriya's career are 'Nandha', 'Kaaka Kaaka' and 'Ghajini'.

Vikram made a name for himself as great actor with films like 'Sethu' and 'Kaasi' but he did not reach all classes of the audience.  It was then that Saran approached Ajith to play the lead of a golden hearted rowdy in 'Gemini' which he could not do due to various reasons.  Saran then approached Vikram who grabbed the opportunity with both hands and helped him become a mass hero.  Ajith was the first choice for Vikram's other blockbuster hit 'Saamy'.

Arya, generally having a chocolate boy image got his breathrough role in 'Naan Kadavul' directed by Bala which catapulted him into the big league.  The behind the scenes news is that the project was initially announced with Ajith in the lead who walked out after creative difference with the director.
