In late 2007 and early 2008 the retro look posters of 'Subramaniapuram' started appearing in main cities of Tamil Nadu.  Honestly it gave the impreesion of an amateur attempt at going period and the film did not evoke any other interest to the common viewer.  Cut to July 4th, 2008 a time when social media was just an infant the film got released and positive word of mouth started catching on like wildfire all over.  Suddenly and without warning a master filmmaker had arrived and a trendsetting piece of celluloid was making waves among the critics and more importantly the general audiences who warmed up to the raw style of filmmaking.

Sasikumar became the most talked about film personality in tinsel town and especially became a rage in neighbouring Kerala where original talents are instantly recognised. Sasikumar made 'Subramaniapuram' work on many levels, firstly the 80s setting gave it a volatile ground, then the main characters were written so realistically that it was doubly scary when each ones dark side erupted.  This is an authentic Tamil film with everything about it rooted in nativity and thats why it is celebrated widely around the world.  The screenplay is a minefield of core emotions such as love, friendship, betrayal and primal instincts that exploded at the perfect notations in the plot that Sasikumar wove.

In the tenth year of 'Subramaniapuram' the sad thing is destiny has made Sasikumar a reluctant actor a star and the director in him has gone dormant.  Yesterday the social media was abuzz with celebrities like Anurag Kashyap to Siddharth and thousands of fans reminding Sasi where he belongs and what he should do next.  The man who backed 'Pasanga' and 'Thalaimuraigal' has many more stories to tell and lets wait for the poster to appear on social media and more importantly on the walls of Tamil Nadu announcing "A Sasikumar Directorial".
