Tamil cinema has produced many stalwarts and their creations to take pride in and the most iconic is the institution called AVM which is the oldest surviving film studio in India.  At a landmark location in Vadapalani, Chennai the sprawling studio with famous AVM Globe at the mast is a shrine to film aspirans and film lovers.  The legendary A.V. Meyappan who set up the institution that has stood the test of time was a visionary and a disciplinarian who introduced to legends like Sivaji Ganesan, Rajkumar, S.S. Rajendran, Vyjayanthimala and Kamal Haasan among others.

In its seventy years of sevice to Tamil cinema , AVM Productions banner has produced 170 films in all the south Indian languages and Hindi as well.  Five chief ministers including C.N. Annadurai,  MGR, Karunanidhi, NTR and Jayalalitha have been associated in the films of the studio. In later years under the administration of AVM Saravanan all leading hero's of Tamil Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Vijayakanth, Sathyaraj, Mohan, Visum Bhagyaraj and Karthick among others have featured in many of their biggest hits under the stable which had quality as its watchword.  Modern day stars like Arvind Swamy, Prabu Deva, Madhavan and Suriya have also enjoyed their stints with the heritage company.

Currently Aruna Guhan and Aparna Guhan  have forayed into the digital medium to produce films and soon many exciting announcements for the newage from AVM are expected.
