Early on Monday morning (probably around 6 am), a major fire broke out at the famous and iconic Sri Kanya Cinema Hall (which comprises of three theatres and a shopping complex) in Gajuwaka in Visakhapatnam. As per a news agency report, at least five fire tenders are on the spot handling the situation. So far, no casualties have been reported. It's because the tragedy happened when the theatre was closed.
It seems the fire has completely destroyed major portions of the complex. It took more than 1 hour for the situation to be brought under control. Although the theatre is located in a residential area, there was no spillover effect and the abutting buildings are safe.
The police have said that short-circuit must have caused the accident. Expectedly, safety measures were scant at the place, early reports say.
