Film Industry skilled workforce is traditionally lead, managed and executed though the manpower provided by various film Unions. Ironically we have more than 35 unique film union consortiums with informal /unstructured Skilling and apprentice models.

In a unique initiative by G.Shiva, President of AIFEC ( All India Film Employees Confederation) under the guidance of veteran actor and chairman of the Media & Entertainment Skills Council Kamal Hassan decided to organize a 3 day workshop bringing together 35 film unions for conducting Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for about 10,000 workers currently working in the Film Industry. The three day workshop would involve training which would be conducted by national and international Film dignitaries, technicians, specialists in 16 trades/job roles and certificates given for the prior skills.

The crowning glory is that the Film Union unanimously has announced a 3 day work holiday for the Skilling during second week of November making it a "workers driven" initiative.

The Media and Entertainment skills council (MESC) is the body led by FICCI mandated to train 11.24 lakhs skilled workforce by 2022. MESC has created world class Qualification Packs for 74 Job roles spanning across various sub sectors of Entertainment along with the consortium partner from the Industry

MESC has participated in the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY scheme) and enrolled about 5000 students Pan India to undertake training under various affiliated training partners.
