The Kaththi` controversy is yet to die down. The upcoming A.R.Murugadoss directed film, which stars Vijay and Samantha in lead roles has courted protest since the production firm Lyca Entertainments is said to be owned by a Sri Lankan based person who is allegedly closed to SL President Mahinda Rajapaksha accused of human rights violations against innocent Elam Tamils living in the island nation.

Many pro-Elam outfits in Tamilnadu have been protesting against the film and seeking a ban for it despite Murugadoss and the film`s co-producer Karunakaran of Ayngaran International have been meeting he heads of popular Tamil organizations and Political parties to explain that the film is no way connected to Sinhalese.

Now a student group called Tamizheezha Manavar Koottamaippu` has issued a press release seeking a ban for Kaththi` and Pulipaarvai` which allegedly shows the slain LTTE leader V.Prabhakaran and his son Balakrishnan in a poor light. They have also announced a sit in protest in front of Vijay`s house on Sunday (August 10) against Kaththi`.
