After Friday prayers today, thousands of protesters rallying against the new citizenship law gathered at Delhi's Jama Masjid. The protests were led by Bhim Army Chief Chandrashekhar Azad, who was sought to be detained by the police. Despite their best attempts, the police couldn't detain Azad, who defied prohibitory orders and escaped into the Masjid.

"During the protest at Jama Masjid, he was taken out of the spot by his supporters. He was earlier denied permission for a protest march from Jama Masjid to Jantar Mantar," says an agency report.

Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr, stray violence was witnessed as protestors indulging in arsoning.

In Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that her State won't implement the CAA and the NRC.
