Kamal Haasan`s brother and guide Chandra Haasan passed away a few days back and a memorial event was conducted today in which the bereaved family was joined by Kollywood luminaries Rajinikanth and Ilayaraja amongst others.

Superstar Rajinikanth said that he has seen the heights of anger that Kamal Haasan had and it was Chandra Haasan who cooled him down. He further added that both Charu Haasan and Chandra Haasan were more like fathers to the Ulaganayagan (Kamal's sobriquet). Towards the end, Rajini also said that the souls of Balachander, Ananthu and Chandra Haasan will continue to safeguard Kamal.

When it was his turn, Kamal said that this is the first event in his life in which he participated without the guidance of Chandra Haasan. He said that his brother taught him how to respect others.
