Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president Thirunavukkarasar has meted out a threat to his party cadres and functionaries at all levels to ensure that they promptly attend party meetings held from time to time in their respective localities/territories. “If they are not found to be attending these upcoming meetings, they would be dismissed from the party,” Tirunavukkarasar warned.
Thirunavukkarasar headed the State Unit of the party’s working council meeting at the party’s headquarters at Sathyamoorthy Bhawan in Chennai after which he met the press. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi hasn’t fulfilled his promise of creating a separate Ministry to look after the welfare of fishermen across the country; Rahul Ji, who would become the Prime Minister after next year’s Lok Sabha polls, would surely do it for fishermen’s welfare,” he said.
“In my personal opinion, though Tamil Nadu Assembly’s term is to expire only in 2021, chances are that the Assembly polls would be held along with Lok Sabha polls next years. Please don’t go by rumours that I would be replaced by somebody else as the TNCC chief. I’d be there leading the party in the State during the campaign ahead of next year’s Lok Sabha polls.
“As per the advice of the party president, we are to hold a series of meetings ahead of next year’s elections. Those who are found to be absenting/boycotting such meetings would be dismissed from the party forthwith,” he warned. Thirunavukkarasar concluded by informing that Congress president Rahul Gandhi would be visiting the State very soon to address a mammoth public meeting.
