The main streets of Madurai are busy round the clock. They are abuzz with activities be it midnight or the wee hours of the day. In a bid to symbolise it on screen, 'son of the soil' Dhayanidhi Alagiri has floated a film titled 'Thoonga Nagaram'.
The film is written and directed by Gaurav, a former associate of K S Ravikumar, and features 'Pasanga' fame Vimal, 'Naadodigal' fame Bharani and Nishanth of 'Renigunta' in key roles. Anjali plays the heroine.
Besides wielding the megaphone, Gaurav dons an important role in the film which has music by Sundar C Babu. The movie was launched at a gala affair at Thamukkam Grounds in Madurai on the occasion of Union Minister M K Alagiri's birthday recently.
'Thoonga Nagaram' has cinematography by Vijay Ulaganathan, a former associate of K V Anand. Editing is by Suresh while Santhanam has been roped in as art director.
"We want to take one step at a time. We are in no hurry to do grand ventures. When the audience is ready to watch different attempts even if it features newcomers, why opt for big-budgeted films", asks Dhayanidhi Alagiri.
