Dhanush-Keerthy Suresh starrer 'Thodari' directed by acclaimed filmmaker Prabhu Solomon and produced by the prestigious banner Sathya Jyothi Films, hit the screens on Thursday (September 22) after making us wait for a long time.

The film despite evoking mixed reviews on day 1 has got a pretty decent opening in Chennai. In its first four days of release the film has been screened across 23 screens in Chennai. There were 325 shows with an average occupancy of 80% and the film has collected over one crore in Chennai itself (Rs.1,58,36,140) and settled for a above average opening.

Last week's another Tamil release was 'Aandavan Kattalai' directed by Manikandan of 'Kaaka Muttai' fame. The film despite having a top league star like Vijay Sethupathi and the 'Irudhi Suttru' girl Ritika Singh in lead roles released in just around 400 screens across Tamil Nadu.

However thanks to the tremendous word of mouth from every critic and audience who watched the film. the film has achieved an excellent opening in Chennai as well as other centers..

The film released on Friday (September 23) a day after 'Thodari' release in 15 theaters across Chennai. The film had a total of 211 shows in its opening weekend and has achieved a phenomenal 95% theater occupancy. The estimated opening collects ion Chennai has gone above 73 lakhs (Rs.73,08,550).

The film is expected to perform very well in the weekdays and have a great second weekend at the box office.

According to trade sources, 'Aandavan Kattalai' due to its release in less number of screens and minimal publicity performed below average in B & C centers but on Saturday and Sunday the film picked up extraordinarily and collections are great in all theaters across Tamil Nadu.
