A short video of an eight-month-old tiger "singing" in high pitch is gaining popularity on social media. Shared by a Russian zoo in Barnaul, the video has the male tiger cup Vitas, making high-pitched sounds in a rhythm. Infact, the sound that the tiger make resembles much of a human baby before their voice changes as they grow older.
The zoo says the sounds resembling singing are unusual because tigers' vocal cords are not designed for such high notes. According to a zoo employee, the tiger makes such sounds not out of pain but just to get attention. “Once he was playfighting with his brothers and sisters and tried to get the attention of Bagira, his mum. Over time he developed this singing, he was very insistent on it,” said Pavel Reznichenko, the deputy director of the zoo’s collection.
Well, Vitas has now turned into the local star of the Barnaul Zoo, with many visitors saying they came to listen to him sing.
